Door and lock hardware

Help with sticking doors, loose hinges, latches that will not catch, and replacing knobs, levers, and deadbolts.

Nate looks at doors that stick, rub, or will not latch, plus knob, lever, hinge, and deadbolt hardware swaps. Photos of the edge, latch, and strike plate help most.

What this can include

  • Doors that stick, rub, or swing open on their own
  • Latches and strike plates that do not line up
  • Loose or squeaky hinges
  • Replacing knobs, levers, and deadbolts
  • Closet and bifold door adjustments
  • And more. Describe your project.

Photos and details to send

  • The full door closed, from the room side
  • The latch edge and the strike plate on the frame
  • Any gap or rub mark along the top or side
  • The existing hardware brand or packaging of the replacement
