A rental turnover checklist should cover function first (doors, latches, hardware), then wall damage, trim, caulk, and touch-ups, organized room by room with a photo for each item.
Start with function
Check what tenants use every day before cosmetic items.
- Every door opens, closes, and latches
- Locks and knobs are firm
- Cabinet doors and drawers work
- Screens are intact
Then walls and finishes
Note holes, scuffs, and touch-up areas by room.
- Anchor and mount holes
- Doorknob impacts behind doors
- Scuffed paint in halls
- Loose trim and baseboard
Kitchen and bath
Look at caulk lines and hardware closely.
- Tub and sink caulk
- Loose towel bars
- Cabinet hinges
Prioritize and share
Mark must-do items, include the city, occupancy, and timing, and leave out access codes.
